A statistical model is constructed suitable for interpretation of the interrelations between the observed values of the mean time of waiting of the passenger at bus stops and service variables. Expressions for the mean time of waiting are formulated, an investigation carried out on a line in Naples is described, and the results are presented in the form of tables and graphs. The results show that the hypothesis of Poissonian arrival of passengers at a bus stop is an acceptable model up to the frequency values of about 12 prime .

Abstract
