Abstract
The Mediterranean has consequently become a “forced” route for about 15% of all cargo traffic worldwide, with a substantial fallout on port traffic, and consequently on Italian economic indicators referred to imports and exports, requiring major changes in the country’s infrastructure endowment towards increased efficiency and quality of service. However, also in light of the global economic-financial crisis of 2008-2009, various factors have emerged that fuel fears of a diminishing trend of intercontinental and transoceanic transit of trade within the Mediterranean basin. The main concepts are outlined.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
