Sourcerecord Id Scopus 29951 ABSTRACT: In various undifferentiated tumors the presence of neuroendocrine cells can indicate the growth and the evolution of the tumor and its negative behaviour. From january 1988 to december 1994 502 patients affected by colorectal carcinoma underwent surgical treatment in our institution. The neuroendocrine markers are: neuron-specific enolase (NSE), epithelial membrane antigens (EMA), synaptophysin (SYN), chromogranin (CGA), cytokeratines and neurophilaments. The period of follow-up was of 3 years. As reguards neuroendocrine tumors we observed a mean survival of 18 months. Malignancy and the incidence of metastatic spread endocrine tumors is greater than esocrine ones.
