Results of a 13C NMR study of polypropene and ethene (I)-propene copolymers (I content <2%) prepd. in the presence of MgCl-supported TiCl4-AlEt3 catalysts confirm that significant amts. of syndiotactic polymer are obtained, under proper conditions. Formation of mainly syndiotactic sequences occurs via 1-2 (primary) monomer addn., possibly with a chain-end stereocontrol. At appropriate catalytic sites, sequences can be formed having high syndiotactic stereoregularity

Abstract
Results of a 13C NMR study of polypropene and ethene (I)-propene copolymers (I content <2%) prepd. in the presence of MgCl-supported TiCl4-AlEt3 catalysts confirm that significant amts. of syndiotactic polymer are obtained, under proper conditions. Formation of mainly syndiotactic sequences occurs via 1-2 (primary) monomer addn., possibly with a chain-end stereocontrol.
