Urban safety, in these last years, has progressively acquired positions of priority in the political agenda of the local governments. The safety policies not only concern interventions of repressive way, based on innovative police organization (community policing), but they are often accompanied by the traditional social policies, designed to reduce the poverty of the weakest classes, through employment programs and education for young generations at risk. Moreover, recently, a new kind of safety policy regards the physical city, through the environmental crime prevention, main objective of which is to decrease the spatial crimes and the perception of unsafety in public spaces.
