In particular, Sections 2, 3 and 4 provide an overview of the reasons for adopting relational database systems. The question of relational database design is treated by consideration of the nature and significance of the logical data model. Section 5 singles out the architecture of a database system. Sections 5, 6, 7 and 8 explain the structure, the manipulation and the integrity of the data. Section 9 is an introduction to the standard database language SQL.
