The paper proposes a new topic reading on the figure of Giorgio Rosi, a Superintendent, engaged in the protection and restoration of architectural, archaeological and urban heritage, involved as an architect and as a “man of institutions” who was active in important initiatives for the protection and restoration between 1940s and 1970s. The contribution especially highlights his thinking on landscape and urban setting, both seen as palimpsests layered in progress, which anticipates some thoughts by Roberto Pane.
