Dalle sabbie all’apparato. Riflessioni su due recenti contributi alla Storia della Tradizione di Livio e Sallustio

The Corpus dei papiri storici greci e latini is an important project between history and papyrology/philology, which has given the scientific community some important volumes in the last years; among them two concerning Latin historians – Sallust and Livy – have been both published by Rodolfo Funari between 2008 and 2011. Their importance lies both in being a thematic corpus which can be easily used by philologists interested in considering and contextualizing papyri in an auctor’s textual transmission and in the recensio of a critical edition, and in being the result of direct examination of fragments, which are presented in all their aspects (from paleography and papyrology to philology and linguistics), and reveal new readings (which generate new interpretations of texts, as well) together with being the expression of cultural (and educational) circles in the pars Orientis of the Empire
