By 2015, according to Mark Pinto of Bell Labs, the microelectronics industry will be manufacturing 10 million silicon transistors per human being per day and the applications will exist to consume them. The evolution of electronic design will lead entire products to be implemented on single silicon chips, assuring low cost production and selling, and the birth of new market segments related in some manner to digital domains. An innovative area where we expect to report strong gains from the current and future development of IC technology is Ambient intelligence (Ami). This paper present an Ami framework designed to better support abstraction and scalability arising from the control processing, the communication activity and the service delivery in order to reach autonomy, independence and distribution of the computational resources. This goal is achieved by means of hybrid approach based on the integration of different methodologies: fuzzy control, markup languages, and web services. © 2005 IEEE.
