Buzias is a thermal city famous, since from XVIII century, for curative characteristics of its waters. Buzias symbol is a walking line long about five hundred meters covered by wood, built in 1875 by Emperor Joseph Francis for his well-known wife, the empress Sissi, to let her walk and be protected from rain, sun and snow. Quickly Buzias begins to attract not only royal families but also visitors who arrive from all countries of the empire for curative treatments, based on thermal waters and strongly ionized air. The Colonnade in Turkish-Byzantine architectural style surrounds the entire park and it is still today one of the symbols of the Banat region. This impressive structure is unique in Europe in size and it is alike to those of the famous Bohemian town Karlovy Vary and the German city of Baden-Baden. The covered Colonnate is exceptional wooden structure and presents interesting coverage solutions, especially in the intersection of straight stretches, with large octagonal gazebos. Walking line is placed in a dendrologic park of twenty hectares with big plane trees, rare vegetal species and squirrels. The recent restoration of the walking line gives us back an exceptional demonstration that the damage would have destroyed. This work wants to document the latest intervention and to show the value of this original architecture, starting by specific solutions of building with a new methodological approach.
