The re-use of former industrial sites refers to a broader horizon of intervention on abandoned and neglected areas: the wastescapes of the productive city have preserved a potential for a new ecological balance, to be pursued with strategies for enhancing existing resources. After deindustrialization, the urban environment can be re-shaped to the principles of economic development, improving the quality of life, sustainable mobility, the economic and social mixité of functions and uses, the production of culture, the local territorial identity and image. The case study of the Urban Development Plan for the former Railway Depot Area in Naples, deals with the theme of a vacant production platform, connected to the interpretation of the remaining traces of railway tracks, old warehouses and a flourishing nature that reclaims its position after decades of abandonment. The regeneration is based on a mixité of new production and residential functions, restoring the characteristics and permanence of the old industrial landscape, and planning the opening of the former railway cluster to the city.

Abstract
The regeneration is based on a mixité of new production and residential functions, restoring the characteristics and permanence of the old industrial landscape, and planning the opening of the former railway cluster to the city.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
