The paper presents an empirical research conducted within four European data infrastructures with the aim to examine the sociotechnical data assemblages that produce algorithms. In this respect, we questioned experts and data team working in these infrastructures using focus groups and interviews with the intent to flesh out our understanding of the nature of algorithms, and to identify and deconstruct their own components.
