STORIA DELLA RINASCITA DI UNA ROVINA IN PIENO CENTRO STORICO

The authors present the case of Palazzo Petagna, located in the metropolitan area of Naples exactly on the main street of the municipality of Casalnuovo di Napoli. This case is extremely interesting to understand what changes have imposed urban, economic and social evolution on an initially agricultural, then completely urban, residential system. Not surprisingly, it is a building subject to protection by the Cultural and Environmental Heritage Ministry for its rural character. The peculiarity of the case, however, lies in the fact that the protection was applied just before the partial demolition, effectively leaving an urban ruin abandoned on the main road. The authors have designed the recovery of the building, for residential and tourist-receptive purposes and expose the study and the logic design that are the basis of the recovery, functionalization and restoration project of the ancient building.
