Abstract

Circular Prolate Spheroidal Wave Functions are applied to the optimized near-field antenna characterization in the case of antennas with circularly shaped aperture. The procedure for the effective numerical calculation of the Circular Prolate Spheroidal Wave Functions is presented. Then they are exploited to represent the aperture field and make possible the determination of the number and distribution of the field samples according to the Singular Value Optimization approach. To analyze the performance of the method in a controlled setting the approach has been numerically assessed.
