The essay defines a minimal notion of expressive empathy as “syntax” of the understanding of the expressions-I/you/he. For this, I present a first definition of perception of the expression of others (Husserl) and two hypotheses that deal, in a different way, with the relationship between anaphora and deixis (Brandom and Bühler). The main objective is to propose an anaphoric model of empathy which is alternative to both the hydraulic and the analogical ones.
