Il coronavirus e la rivolta nelle carceri italiane

The extraordinary crisis caused by the coronavirus is now developing - using the words of the Italian Prime Minister Conte in a recent videoconference with EU leaders - as an economic and social tsunami in all the nations of the world. Italy, at the beginning of the month of March, had to face not only the health emergency but also the rebellions that exploded inside numerous Italian prisons. It was a revolt not attributable to the riots of the past, which among other things have not occurred in our prisons since the approval of the Gozzini law (Law no. 633 of 10 October 1986). The reasons for such violence would seem to be linked to the irresoluble issue of prison overcrowding, as well as the suspension of talks with family members, premium permits and the semi-liberty regime adopted as a precaution by the Legislative Decree n. 9 of March 2, 2020.
