Abstract

We describe main design features and targeted capabilities of an operational software system for air quality simulations on a limited area domain, primarily intended for policy applications. In our research program, both modelling and computational issues are addressed. Special attention is given to the development of an integrated rnulti-component computational framework, incorporating recent ad-vances in algorithmic design and software tools. The final systern will run on a heterogeneous computer platform, whose main part is a commodity parallel computer of the Beowulf class.
