During the study of Herculaneum scrolls opened through scorzatura, the use of wellestablished methodologies, designed to work on rather well preserved scorze, may sometimes be hampered by the current state of preservation of scorze. This is particularly the case for scorze whose surviving last leaf is at present narrower than it must have been originally. This paper will present a new method for reconstructing the original width of the ultimo foglio based on comparison with the facsimiles.
