In the Early Iron Age, several Italic communities developed a proper identity and tended to adopt their own costumes both for men and women. Costumes different from those commonly used in the find-place allow the identification of foreigners. In this process the lozenge-shaped bronze belt has attracted attention: it was developed in southern Etruria in the early 8th c. BC, reached the Po valley, and was then produced with individual decoration in the Adige valley and further north. The Etruscan interest in the Adige valley and the zone north of the Alps was probably due to the availability of mineral resources in both regions.

Abstract
In the Early Iron Age, several Italic communities developed a proper identity and tended to adopt their own costumes both for men and women. Costumes different from those commonly used in the find-place allow the identification of foreigners. In this process the lozenge-shaped bronze belt has attracted attention: it was developed in southern Etruria in the early 8th c. BC, reached the Po valley, and was then produced with individual decoration in the Adige valley and further north. The Etruscan interest in the Adige valley and the zone north of the Alps was probably due to the availability of mineral resources in both regions.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
