This paper focuses on linguistic variation in a corpus gathered with migrants from Montefalcione (AV, Italy) and settled in the English town of Bedford and in return migrants who, after a temporary immigration in the UK, returned in their home village Montefalcione. It aims to compare these two groups (the migrants still in the UK and the returners) in order to understand if the emigration and the return induced innovations in the local dialect or a strong maintenance of its most archaic patterns.

Abstract
This paper focuses on linguistic variation in a corpus gathered with migrants from Montefalcione (AV, Italy) and settled in the English town of Bedford and in return migrants who, after a temporary immigration in the UK, returned in their home village Montefalcione. It aims to compare these two groups (the migrants still in the UK and the returners) in order to understand if the emigration and the return induced innovations in the local dialect or a strong maintenance of its most archaic patterns.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
