Jesus’ followers as individual religious actors of the Roman empire. Notes to the ‘new’ history of the Roman religion by Jörg Rüpke · Starting from J. Rüpke’s analysis in his new history of Roman religion, this essay aims to reconstruct the cultural and religious dynamics of early Jesus’ followers in light of two different but related aspects of ancient religious history according to the frame of Rüpke’s reflection : communicative religious acts as an expression of the “living religion” of early Jesus’ followers (in the context of both Jewish and Graeco-Roman cultures) ; early Jesus’ followers as mirrors of individualized appropriations and/or manipulations of religious communicative acts (in the context of both Jewish and Graeco-Roman cultures).
