The project for new accessibility for the suburban Baths, part of a broader program to enhance the Insula Occidentalis, has been an opportunity to verify the theoretical hypotheses formulated in the Pompei Accessibile project, suggesting a coherent, efficacious mode of intervention and a model for any further intervention of a similar nature. The research aims not only to solve fruition problems from a technical point of view but to draw visitors in, making them the protagonist of a work which originated with a public vocation, whilst respecting what has been preserved of it.

Abstract

The project for new accessibility for the suburban Baths, part of a broader program to enhance the Insula Occidentalis, has been an opportunity to verify the theoretical hypotheses formulated in the Pompei Accessibile project, suggesting a coherent, efficacious mode of intervention and a model for any further intervention of a similar nature. The research aims not only to solve fruition problems from a technical point of view but to draw visitors in, making them the protagonist of a work which originated with a public vocation, whilst respecting what has been preserved of it.
