Su δύ’ ἀρχαῖα ὑπομνήματα ed ἐκλείποντά τινα: una nuova interpretazione di PHerc. 1044, fr. 7 Gallo

The paper will present a new interpretation of PHerc. 1044, fr. 7 Gallo, which has attracted the attention of several scholars, for it enlightens us on the impressive productivity of Epicurean philology even in areas far from the Kepos. The fragment presents both syntactical and exegetical difficulties, which have led scholars to come up with different solutions and interpretations. However, almost all scholars who have dealt with it started from the idea that it contains a list of Philonides’ writings. I will suggest that only some of the works mentioned can be attributed to Philonides and that in these lines the author of the Vita is correcting and supplementing its source.
