Investigating the consolidated city, making accessible the stratified levels that define its ‘urban thickness’, wants to be the peculiarity of this reflection on the reading of the city, understood as a simultaneous spatial/temporal entity, taken as deeply significant of an idea of contemporary city as construction and stratification. To the traditional documentary corpus of urban representation we want to add the three-dimensional model as a further tool for reading and monitoring the city, able not only to accommodate the complementarity and interactivity between the three-dimensional spatiality and the flat projections of urban areas, sites, buildings, but also to return, with particular effectiveness, the results of comparisons between the characteristics and relationships of urban parts. The forms of representation in their current multiplicity also give back countless forms of the city itself, apparently different from each other, but which, in the rigour of their correct selective synthesis, are recomposed in a single dimension that holds together all the layers of representation and brings the diversity of vision back to a condition of univocal reading. The forms of representation restitute identity to the form of the city.

Abstract
The forms of representation restitute identity to the form of the city.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
