Franco Minissi ad Ancona. Esperienze restaurative e museografiche prima e dopo la Carta di Venezia

The work of Franco Minissi is examined critically in relation to the principles of the Charter of Venice. The paper analyzes the differences in methodological and operational approach of the restoration and museography carried out by Minissi between 1955 and 1958 and between 1985 and 1993, before and after the Venetian conference, on Pa-lazzo Ferretti in Ancona, seat of the Museo archeologico nazionale delle Marche. The study of the two interventions of Minissi in Ancona allows to evaluate the evolution of museographic theories based on the principles introduced by the Venice Charter, especially regarding the “exceptional character” of restoration (art. 8), the musealization of the «elements of sculpture, painting or decoration that are an integral part of the monument» (art. 9) and to the «most modern means of structure and conservation» (art. 10).
