Quale ragione?Sul fallito tentativo di Jaspers e Lukács di trovare una via per la pace nell’Europa delle divisioni

Jaspers and Lukács met in Heidelberg in the first decade of the 20th century. Their first confrontation, however, took place during the 1946 Rencontres internationals de Genève dedicated to a reflection on the European spirit. While looking for a way to peace, a dialogue still seems to be possible, with the beginning of the Cold War the paths of the two intellectuals separate definitively. The essay reconstructs the confrontation of the two thinkers around the concept of totality and highlights the different ways of understanding the appeal to reason in a Europe of divisions.
