A study of the interaction in water of some alkanols and alkanediols with a-cyclodextrin (aCD), by calorimetry and 1H NMR, spectroscopy at 25°, indicates that the alkyl chains are included in the cavity of aCD, that 1:1 complexes are formed, and that the formation consts. and enthalpies are markedly dependent on the no. and position of the hydroxyl groups in the chain. For a,w-alkanediols, the interaction is more complex than a simple inclusion.

Abstract
A study of the interaction in water of some alkanols and alkanediols with a-cyclodextrin (aCD), by calorimetry and 1H NMR, spectroscopy at 25°, indicates that the alkyl chains are included in the cavity of aCD, that 1:1 complexes are formed, and that the formation consts. and enthalpies are markedly dependent on the no. and position of the hydroxyl groups in the chain. For a,w-alkanediols, the interaction is more complex than a simple inclusion.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
