In this paper, we present a statistical paradigm for discussing and modelling the perception process by which sampled respondents assess their subjective evaluation of the survival probability to 75 and 90 years, respectively. The work compares this evaluation for given subjects’ covariates (as gender, marital status, education, job) and shows how a class of models for ordinal data is able to present differences and patterns of perceived probability in an effective way.

Abstract

In this paper, we present a statistical paradigm for discussing and modelling the perception process by which sampled respondents assess their subjective evaluation of the survival probability to 75 and 90 years, respectively. The work compares this evaluation for given subjects’ covariates (as gender, marital status, education, job) and shows how a class of models for ordinal data is able to present differences and patterns of perceived probability in an effective way.
