The aim of this work is to develop a new signal processing method for detecting chaos in time series. This procedure could replace other methods such as the maximal Lyapunov exponent search, and it is based on models related to the wavelet transform and chaos theory. To validate the reliability and sensitivity of the method, it is applied to a C30 Capstone turbine by setting several little different operating conditions in terms of rotational speed and mixed fuel. As it will be seen, this methodology is able to establish the best operating condition of the machine only given its observed outputs.
