La circolarità delle idee. La cultura del nuovo meridionalismo nella cooperazione economica internazionale

The paper deals with the underdevelopment of Italian Mezzogiorno issue in the Nuovo Meridionalismo perspective, with particular regard to the years between 1945 and 1960. The contents are based on a systematic work on «Informazioni SVIMEZ» review editorial numbers related to these years. The problem of the Italian Mezzogiorno underdevelopment is faced with an international approach, regarding two aspect: the analysis deals with theories and strategies that were dedicated to others developing areas of the world during these years, aiming at applying them also to the Italian Mezzogiorno; moreover, it is underlined the importance that the international community spreads to this area, with particular regard to the role of the USA and the main international organisations, like the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). The paper analyses with special attention some aspects of underdevelopment: the relation between the State and the private sector, the capital cumulative process and the foreign capital contribute. The paper objective is focalising the main aspects of Nuovo Meridionalismo, aiming at underlining successes and failures, and with the attempt to contribute this way to the modern debate about Italian Mezzogiorno development.
