In Rainer Maria Rilke’s work the Weltinnenraum is not an inner space of the world, but an inner space made up of world, therefore not a place in which interiority claims to save human frailty by making it eternal in representative objectification, but a possibility, a project of sense, a fundamental experience, reachable only through authentic, and no longer functionalistic-instrumental, contact with things. The search for a contact with things leads to a way of thinking about time which in turn makes it possible to relate to the world in an authentic way: only time makes the distance – that Rilke believes necessary to think things – ineradicable.

Abstract
In Rainer Maria Rilke’s work the Weltinnenraum is not an inner space of the world, but an inner space made up of world, therefore not a place in which interiority claims to save human frailty by making it eternal in representative objectification, but a possibility, a project of sense, a fundamental experience, reachable only through authentic, and no longer functionalistic-instrumental, contact with things. The search for a contact with things leads to a way of thinking about time which in turn makes it possible to relate to the world in an authentic way: only time makes the distance – that Rilke believes necessary to think things – ineradicable.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
