Problems are discussed concerning drafting and publication of the Flora Napolitana (1811-1838), a monumental opus comprising 5 volumes in folio and 250 colour plates published by Michele Tenore. This is a fundamental work in the history of botanical exploration in southern Italy and is an indispensable reference for botanists studying the flora of the region. The authors point out that the progress of Flora Napolitana reflects the crucial historical events that affected the Kingdom of Naples in those years; moreover, they analyze the salient variations among the several editions of the opus, some of which were a result of those historical events.

Abstract
Problems are discussed concerning drafting and publication of the Flora Napolitana (1811-1838), a monumental opus comprising 5 volumes in folio and 250 colour plates published by Michele Tenore. This is a fundamental work in the history of botanical exploration in southern Italy and is an indispensable reference for botanists studying the flora of the region. The authors point out that the progress of Flora Napolitana reflects the crucial historical events that affected the Kingdom of Naples in those years; moreover, they analyze the salient variations among the several editions of the opus, some of which were a result of those historical events.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
