The mountain stretches of waterways are characterized by extremely intermittent liquid and solid flows. As a consequence, for the purposes of designing the interventions necessary to prevent the triggering of erosive or aggradation phenomena, it is not possible to refer to a single value of the discharge (defined as “modeling discharge” or “self-formative discharge”). The present work was developed over 30 years ago by a team of researchers led by two great Masters of Italian School of Hydraulic Engineering, Professors Vittorio Biggiero and Fabio Rossi, both passed away in the meantime. In it, a new method is presented for the evaluation, on a probabilistic basis and with the aid of physically based models, of the annual average solid transport capacity of the riverbed sections, the knowledge of which is an essential element for the identification and for the design of the interventions in the mountain branches of rivers. The methodology proposed in the work is applied to the case of the Regi Lagni, a set of mostly artificial channels, which are in extreme conditions of degradation and which would certainly get advantage of interventions aimed at ensuring their full hydraulic functionality.

Abstract
The methodology proposed in the work is applied to the case of the Regi Lagni, a set of mostly artificial channels, which are in extreme conditions of degradation and which would certainly get advantage of interventions aimed at ensuring their full hydraulic functionality.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
